New TV book: Love it? Hate it?

We switched the format for our weekly TV magazine yesterday and this morning, the phones have been ringing off the hook. I understand the importance of the TV mag for a lot of people. It's one of those things that people don't like to change. A few years back, we made the book smaller and readers complained. Now, we've made it bigger. And people are complaining. One caller wanted us to buy her a bigger coffee table to hold the larger size.

My take is that the new design makes more sense and will be easier to use ... once people get over the learning curve. We've got a few bugs to work out ourselves -- notably the "tonight's picks for HDTV," which includes a bunch of ABC and NBC programs that aren't in HD here.

If you have specific complaints, or concrete suggestions on the new design, please let us know.

People still use the TV Book? Hmpf. I had no clue. I thought everyone got their TV guide from the on screen guide or the Internet.

Please tell us how this new format makes sense. The size of the print did not grow in proportion to the pages, but the size of the ads and "tonight's picks" did. The celebrity Q&A and pipeline seem to be features that are there to fill empty space along with the wasted margins on each page. Change can be good but I don't think this one was very well thought out. Now, one needs to use a ruler across the page to find the program and channel without going cross-eyed or losing one's place. By the way if you buy that lady a larger coffee table could you get one for me, too. Thanks.

Remember who reads a newspaper, and a hard copy of a TV Guide is not needed at much. Also TV Guide (that one) also has a cable channel which has improved over the years.

I recently cancelled my subscription to TVGuide because it was just too big, too wordy..too, too. I wanted the small, easy size of the Gazette's guide, and it was great, UNTIL you turned it into the INCREDIBLE unwieldy NEW CHEAPER GUIDE. Please fix it if you can. I'll even pay the extra .$25 for it.Thanks, Susieq
