Richard Hatch guilty

Original "Survivor" Richard Hatch was found guilty of tax evasion today. He's facing up to 13 years in jail, $600,000 in fines and sharing a cell with Sue Hawk.

For all his faults, Hatch seemed like a pretty smart guy. Was he trying to get away with something, or is paying taxes just not his thing? It seems like the companies giving away these big prizes -- CBS in this case -- ought to provide a little more financial oversight.

CBS should have held his hand after the show was over!? Oh, come on. He's always been savvy and I'm sure he could have read his contract with CBS which probably states it. Plus ALL income is subject to tax unless it's specifically excluded. Or he could have asked one of the legions of CPAs in the country. He was being greedy. If you win $1,000,000, go ahead and pay $400,000 to the government. It's the price of living in a country where you can win a million bucks.

"I thought the producers were going to pay it for me"?? Please...
