May Nielsen numbers

The May book is in and it's hard to tell whether the folks at KOAA or KRDO are jumping higher.

KOAA actually expanded its lead at 10 p.m. -- this in a sweeps period in which NBC posted some truly atrocious ratings. Remarkable.

KRDO won the mornings outright, and came thisclose to taking over second place at 10 p.m. -- plus they continued to bring in the viewers for their weekend morning news.

KXRM's 9 p.m. news was up slightly, and tied KRDO's second-place 10 p.m. finish among viewers 25-54. It wasn't far behind in total viewers, either.

All this good news came at the expense of KKTV, which was down rather sharply at 10 p.m. from last year.

These numbers don't include KRDO's new noon news hour, or new KOAA morning anchor Adam Atchison. Next time out, we'll also have to factor in KXRM's new morning news, and try to judge whether KOAA's cable-only 4 and 9 p.m. newscasts put a dent in the other guy's broadcast news.

Trying hard to give him a fair chance, but I can't get past the fact that KOAA's new AM guy looks like Mr. Bean.

Andy...
Are you just listening to spin from the GMs at different news stations? Or are you actually looking at the book itself? I hope your newspaper article will be a little more comprehensive... with numbers.

I think Andy does use the ratings books cause I think this year KKTV finally as taken a hit across the board.

News Press & Gazette is not monkeying around with KRDO-TV. As soon as we saw the changes they made with the station the resultss proved to be in their favor.

Andy, since he's apparently afraid to say anything, can a real journalist get to the bottom of what the rumors are about newscasts and people at KKTV that Blabbing Mike is throwing around?

The nd will not confirm that their morning show will be effected and one of the night time anchors will be going if rumors ripe are true. the one to be asked to leave will be the wrong one though. the nd needs to go because he is not pro active in his news room. they will not be getting rid of their problems only creating more.

I think the KKTV changes need to start with the news director. Work on the product first. I hope they don't they changing the set will help and when they finally do set changes, get that dark junk back to whatever bank they borrowed it from
