As the radio dial turns...
Radio news always comes in waves in this town. There'll be nothing, nuthin' for months, and then everything will happen at once. So now we got CK getting fired at KATC (95.1 FM), then hired at KVUU (99.9 FM).
KVOR (740 AM) should announce their new afternoon show host today.
And KCCY (96.9 FM) announced this morning that former program director Val Hart is coming back to town -- I think to join Willie on the morning show. Hart went up to Seattle to launch a new country station there, which I thought was going pretty well for her.
Nobody ever truly leaves Springs radio, though -- they just get a leave of absence.
Oh, the latest Arbitrons will be out Thursday.

Val,
Welcome home to Colorado Springs
When will Scott Thrower come back?
(For those of you who don't know who Scott was, he was a morning dj for 96Rock...96.5...in the early '80's. 96.5 is the current 98.1 KKFM).
here's another rumor i heard this weekend while out drinkin...mark stevens and steve medley , the old mark brothers show on KKFM (after scott thrower) are coming back too. didn't hear about any station that these goofs could go to --but like you said andy, you never leave!
Ha ha ha! The dusty old dinosaurs don't have the chops to catch on in bigger markets!
Bring back the stripper chick (Alyzabeth Clements?) who was fired for bad mouthing Taco Hell/Smell!
Terrestrial radio (and the horrible morning radio shows) are dead, dead, dead! .... Pole Smoking, ass clowns!
why is it a problem that valerie hart is returning to the area? she did a great job starting the new station in the northwest and returning to the colorado springs market should be considered a perk. as for the other names the gang hanging out at the local pool hall brought up, it's just talk Don't count y96 out...........
who is the new afternoon talk host at kvor
I don't think it a problem at all if some of the better radio personalities from the past come back here. All it does it make a competitive market better..there is a lot of griping here about the quality of radio..and good LOCAL jocks would be nice!
with val on kccy's morning show, the cat will be going down. they can never compete. val will leave them in the dust. kccy will totally dominate with her there.
Y96 will not totally dominate. They are a BORING station with boring "talent". Val is a good talent but not a difference maker..it will be the curiosity factor for one trend and back to mediocrity for them. The Peak is the station to watch in this market. Also, 95.1 does more in this community because I think they all actually live here. KCC(wh)Y bother is kicked out of Cowboys and actually promoting shows at the club in Denver. Apparently they think Colo Spgs cares....
The only decent guy over there is Chris Brooks and he hates being in the studio...I've got an idea, everyone email Scott Letorneau so he actually has some on-air material...
the peak is the station to watch? hahahahahaha! yeah, that's right. WATCH a radio station. because they're awful to LISTEN to. don't know if chris brooks hates being in the studio but he ought to move on if that's the case. can't think of one thing 95.1 does for the community but their boss is an iowa guy who only refers to what they do it IOWA in meetings. so when will that guy realize he ain't in iowa anymore??
Whatever happened happened to Mad Max? He worked overnights at KKFM for a long time and always made me laugh. He just disappeared...
Scott Thrower aint comin' back. If you wanna ask him why, email him at scottb98@sbcglobal.net
