That didn't take long

Longtime KKMG (98.9 FM) deejay Chris "CK" Knight, who was let go two weeks ago from his gig at KATC (95.1 FM) popped up this afternoon on Clear Channel's KVUU (99.9 FM).

Clear Channel market manager Bob Richards said CK would fill in for George McFly in the afternoons on My 99.9 this week, then cover middays for recently departed Marko until a new program director is hired and then he'll land a fulltime spot on one of Clear Channel's four stations.

"I thought he was the best talent that Citadel had and I’m thrilled to have him," Richards said. "I’ve often said that Clear Channel had some of the best personalities in the market. Now Clear Channel has all of the best personalities in the market."

Heh. Radio guys give the best quotes.

C.K. is a talent? Not hardly. The guy is very weak on the air. It shows what everyone says about Bob Richards. He's clueless. Well now he has another clueless "talent" working for him. Clear Channel keeps shooting itself in the foot and they did it again.

I for one, am overjoyed that CK has landed on one of the very few stations in the Springs that I actually listen to!

I loved him on 98.9 with Howie and Laserman when I was younger, and I will appreciate him even more now that he's on a 'grown-up' radio station.

WooHoo!

I'm glad CK has a new temporary home. KVUU needs help, KKLI needs help, KCCY needs help, he is stable and can only help, the radio wars are just beginning.

I would like to see CK on KKLI. The only stability they show is on the weekend. Love the 70's that's like growing up and loving the 40's when we were younger. This year is 2007 not 1975.

Hey Andy,

Time to remove the News Blab link from your main page. Seems like ole' Blabbing Mike has gone off and started chasing UFO's..... He has stopped reporting anything related to the newsies getting the news in the Springs....

Yeah, but the discussion board is still running over there. Plus, this is like the fifth time Mike's taken the site down. I'll give it a month or so to see if it sticks.

Clear Channel is more than the local stations, they have consultants, billboards and stations in most major markets. Colorado Springs is not an easy market to win. I belive that the new peak and kat country will continue their dominance. CK got lucky.

The discussion board went away a few days ago, but you're right Andy.....the whole thing might reappear at any moment :-)

Just to be clear, the new Peak has been doing very well, but it's not dominant in the sense that Magic used to dominate the market, or the way Y96 did in the months between the fall of KKCS and the emergence of Cat Country.

The Springs is very, very competitive in every category except active rock - KILO.

I think Cat Country sounds better now than it has since it launched even with the mix up of air staff. CK is a good talent but country was the wrong format for him. It's good to hear that he landed on his feet...for now.

C.K. won't last there. He's just not good and they're in need of some talent over at kccy. C.K. ain't it. Getting rid of him was a good move. Does anyone really think he's good? Seriously? Would you really change the station to listen to him? NOOOOO!~

wonder what took them so long to fire the guy? he never should've been there. and the chick that worked with him, how did she hang onto her job? the arrogant idiot that was on after them should've gone too. whoever did the hiring at that station should've been the first one to get fired! c.k. is lucky that he got hired again. i wonder how that happens. well now he can screw things up over at Y

Give the man a chance, he may come out of the situation a better talent/asset for our community

Regardless if you like CK or not, the Magic Morning Show was number in the ratings for years....and that translates to a company's bottom line.

Bob Richards and the "Denver Mafia" continue to shoot themselves in the foot down here in the hinterlands. Best of luck to them....

ck might've been on a very successful station but it was only successful until they got competition. now look where magic is and i wouldn't call the beat much competition. clear channel's stupid to hire him but they'll still get ratings. i don't think he's THAT bad even if he's a jerk. put him on the night shift.

I've worked on many stations and formats in the country. I have to give CK credit, he never gave up. Bob and Tom??????????? I'm past the KILO demographic and the Eagle but both stations are local and offer local talent making a difference.

really? what difference are they actually making?

DJ's I like, Jack Regan, though he's just weekend on 92.9, he's human and at 102.7 Ted Griffen, he's been on the air for years, sincere, versatile and caring, DJ's who's 15 minutes of fame is running out, Capt Dan and Paul, they had a bit on about the top 5 tv money makers that went way to long this morning, even for John Tesh tickets, they're missing the point and the majority of the callers were women, don't men listen to that station anymore?

So many folks named anonymous nowadays...huh.

Doesn't anyone have the guts to own up to what they have to say anymore?

the comments on KILO, if you have to ask, you don't know nor have listened to the station

At 3:55 AM, July 27, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

the only difference is that they're boring and lightweight from right here in town

At 6:08 AM, July 27, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Coyote McCloud who is on the air evenings on the Peak sounds like he at least wants to be on the air. Someone needs to cut him slack and let someone else do the road reports on all the other stations.
Terri Landruth, weekends at KKLI sounds great, she gives the station a professional sound and though she says they play "light rock" I would still take the time to listen to her than the weekday version of their station

The best morning show? I would have to say KRDO with Eric Singer and Lee Richards, they don't insult the audience
