Christina Salvo replaces Grace Polanski on KXRM weekends

That is all.

Another example of the continued dumbing down of our local media...

I no longer watch KXRM's Morning News. Jeanette Hynes was the only mature and intelligent person on that show. The rest, especially the female reporter, are clowns and have no credibility.

Christina and Grace are pretty women, but neither come across as having a brain. Every time I've heard either of them try to say something not scripted, their ignorance just shows more. Their reporting skills are weak as well. Good luck--I'm sure you'll both do well in this business.

Spoken like someone threatened by attractive women with brains. Grace has over 15 years experience in television. She must be doing something right. Hynes came across as cold and a know it all. The change is refereshing.

Not at all threatened---just what I see as a complete outsider.

Grace just doesn't seem like she can think on her feet. I've been trying to give her an honest shake all week, but her ad libbing with the others always seems uncomfortable, and her stumbling over every sentence is getting old fast.

Case in point--last week they were playing video of the umpire getting hit in the head by a baseball pitch during the Rockies/Padres game. Her reaction was, and I quote, "That was hilarious!" I thought I misheard that, until she said it again. Yea, a 90-mph fastball to the head is something to laugh at! Lost me right there.

I do think Hynes was out of place on that newscast. She didn't fit in with all the stupid behavior and shenanigans of the rest of the on air "talent." I imagine having to listen to that horrible Meagan Whatsherface all the time would make me grumpy, too.

As for Christina, I think she needs to read some books and/or newspapers and get a little more education in her. Current events and general knowledge are not her strong suits. I'll leave it at that.

Outsider huh? You sound more like a disgruntled insider to me. If these women weren't attractive you wouldn't have a problem.

You're repeating yourself. Got anything else to say?

Hynes was pushed out the door. Part of cut backs. Not the only news employee eliminated.

At 10:15 PM, May 11, 2008, Anonymous Anonymous said...

More cut backs expected at KXRM. At least three.

Hynes was not pushed out the door. Your facts are dead wrong. Nice try.

notice the last post didn't dispute the cutbacks or the other eliminated news staff? peeps at kxrm are pissed.
think $$$$$. it's happening all across barrington.
maybe andy w should ask hynes herself. maybe he should dig deeper at kxrm. there's more to the story.

Good Lord people grow up. It’s over. Welcome to corporate America where the world doesn’t revolve around your precious little shift. I talked to Hynes, she opted out. Yes, your corporation made some cuts across the board including KXRM, Big Deal. It’s not the big secret that you portray it to be. You are in the news business. Have you not read any of the stories you are cranking out these days, times are tough. So yes it is all about $$$ (At least you got that one right). Maybe they made the wrong cuts I guess they should've cut you. It’s time to buck up cowboy. I’m guessing you have to work a little harder because of the cuts and now you’re mad and you’ll probably be mad until you get another job. Guess what, it’ll be the same at the next station. Welcome to TV. Get over it and just be happy that you still have a job. Cry baby TV people make me nauseous.

Somebody feels defensive at KXRM!
She OPTED OUT? How does that work? She was the freakin morning anchor! They only promoted her like 100 billlion times in those lame commercials on FOX 21. How did they screw that up? Oooo wait. $$$$.

Spoken like a typical guy. She went home to raise her two kids, which in your eyes probably makes her a quiter. Far braver than complaining about $$$ on a blog.

Wrong again! I'm of the female persuasion.
By the way... if "she went home to raise her two kids", why did she solicit job offers from other local news directors during her "goodbye" at the end of her last show? Yes, it happened. Live. On 4/25/08. On KXRM.

While this little tryst is interesting to read I have to say, one of you is dead wrong the other is right on the money. I worked with Jeannette over at KKTV for years. The cutbacks had the potential to affect the morning anchor’s hours, so she decided to take the open door and resign rather than whack out her family schedule more then the early morning hours already were. She was never the target of cutbacks. So her opting out is exactly right. Sure she may land somewhere else if they offer better hours (that’s not the argument here) but when given the option to work overnights versus staying home it’s clear what she choose. That’s it in a nutshell. Are one of you part of the cuts? So much anger.

I stopped watching Fox 21 news whenever Christina Salvo is on. When she learns how to speak without stumbling over every other word I will watch it again. This has nothing to do with her "lack of brains" or her "physical appearance" but more to do with having the ability to speak coherently. Isn't that what a reporter should be able to do at least?

I watched Salvo tonight and she was spot on. Well done and the beauty doesn't hurt either!!

Regarding Christina Salvo, she is a graduate of USC and spent years in the field in Colorado before she became an Anchor in Colorado. She was an honor student. Where did you go to school?
