Hold onto your boots, Colorado Springs

I was talking to local radio people today about the Winter Arbitron ratings. Naturally, the number one topic was what Citadel will do with KRDO (95.1 FM) after the sale is completed.

JoJo Turnbeaugh, morning guy and program director for Clear Channel's country station KCCY (96.9 FM) says he's preparing to get some company in the format.

"How much more could that writing be on the wall?" he said.

Over at Citadel, mum's the word, but operations manager Bobby Irwin offered some oblique praise for the boys across town.

“Country is a very hot format right now and KCCY has done a good job serving that audience," he said.

Meanwhile, KRDO actually had decent numbers with its Hot A/C format, coming in ninth, two places ahead of rival KVUU (99.9 FM). So, the betting line is heavily favoring country for now, but don't bet the farm on it. Or the pickup truck. Or the dog.

I guess that's why I don't listen to FM anymore. I was sorry to hear that KVOR went national in the mornings, yet I have enjoyed Glen Beck.

Adelphia is killing me, Andy. No TNT in HD for the NBA playoffs (my wife loves the Suns) - Heard any rumors on more HD channels?

KVOR is only national after 8, although they've cut back on their reporting staff.

Nothing on Adelphia, although I haven't talked to them recently. I keep expecting the Comcast deal to finally go through -- wouldn't be surprised if the pace of change picks up after that.

We should have NBC and PBS in a couple more weeks, though...

Accually Glenn Beck was a great move for KVOR. I have heard that Laura Ingraham has pulled in some strong numbers on rival station KZNT.

Don't count out KKCS just yet, cause I know they want to get their clear sound back in spite of all the signal migration that has happened with that station. They want back in the game real bad.

Three Way Country Battle NOBODY WANTS!!! Citadel's Country station in Nashville is getting beat by two hertiage Country stations in Nashville. Funny that is the home of the Country Music Business.

On the other hand Citadel OWNS Country in the Boise, ID and Des Moines, IA. Two stations that are owned by Citadel broadcast a Country format. One will play the legends while the other focus more on the currents.

We shall have to see what the trends are in next books.

I have to say Peak 95.1 finally got the act together and focused their Hot AC format unlike they did in the past. For the Hot AC format Peak is become my number one choice.

My is good but they do too many special weekend features. The "MyPod" is great and they should keep that one, but its need to do away with the all 80's weekends. A retro weekend combining the 80's and 90's would be a better weekend feature.

That's cool on NBC and PBS - This Old House in HD? :) I used to watch that show all the time. Haven't watched it much since Steve Thomas left.

Do you know if NBC will be full HD, or will it be like ABC here?

Thanks Andy!

When they get it, NBC will be full HD right off the bat. Stinks that we'll have nothing but summer reality shows to watch, but I'll be counting the minutes until Sunday night football starts.
