Comings, goings
Three new folks at KKTV: McKenzie Martin, who was quite literally thrown to the lions (well, lion) when she arrived in the Springs. She did the story on the mountain lion that got into the house Tuesday night. Stephanie Ross also joins as a reporter. And Michelle Molison will be the anchor on the new 6:30 and 9 p.m. newscasts on the equally new MyKKTV digital subchannel (Comcast channel 725), that launches Sept. 5.
One coming, one going at KOAA: Matt Clough joined... I think it was week before last. And Katie Moore is leaving Sept. 1, headed for New Orleans.
Nothing new at KRDO, although news director Dave Rose said he should have some news next week.
And down at KXRM, news director Joe Cole has been so busy hiring people that he hasn't had time to tell me who he's hired. I know the weekend anchor, weekend meteorologist, producer, Web producer and two or three or four reporters are on board, I just don't have names yet.
UPDATE: Speak of the devil, Joe just called with those names. May not mean much to you (yet), but here's who's on board: Grace Polanski, weekend anchor, Matthew Kruger, weekend meteorologist/reporter, Rachel Regalado, reporter, Mike Conneen, reporter, Christina Salvo, reporter, Shane Crigger, executive producer, Kelly Brown, web producer, Dennison Howard, photographer, Adam Drake, photographer-editor, Pedro Laumbach, photographer. Still to come: One more reporter and an assignment editor.
Oh, and lest I forget: Stephanie Pytlinski and Terry Gerbstadt will be making the move from KKTV, meaning the new newscast will look a lot like the old newscast.

I also heard a rumor that Nima Reza, and John the sports guy from News First are leaving too. Are they going to FOX as well??? Not sure if it is ture, but I would count on it.
Who are their main weather and sports guys going to be then? I have seen all the other main positions named... just not those unless I missed them.
Two HD channels? 705 and 725! "Well possum on the gumbush," to quote Roscoe P. Coltran.
If the Comcast guys got ants in their pants, they can add the following HD channels on September 5th as well...
734 - ESPN2
735 - NFL Network
740 - TNT

im surpirsed that.. eric singer and mellisa brown WAS NOT HIRED!! and also local people .i heard rumors that mr cole was going to hire "local"'people?? not!!!i wouldnt watch NEW FOX 21..unhuh i watch a reporter on adelphia channle here in csprings back in the 1987. i think for.. pikes peak library district tv documentary was spectrum87..great show! i mean this guy really was a reporter did his own show and edits..and went into a real gold mine in cripple creek??.why would mr cole hire some one without any background....really "surprised" at him hiring someone outside of colorado springs..thats terrible..did any one seen this reporter in the late 1980s on cnetury cable??

maybe some one out there would tell mr cole and maybe hire him on fox 21?? who knows its worth a try??maybe andyw knows about him??it will be great for csprings for our own to get in there..
or kktv or krdo tv and maybe koaa tv pick him up.??. is up to them.but this guy went into a working gold mine and a colorado vineyard and other great documentaries in the 1986-87. i dont know .maybe andyW knows he ..knows any thing here, right andy.??he was great..reporter and they are "overlooking" him..
i hope that they kxrm tv find this reporter.. and hire him it will be a breath of fresh air. than the other reporters..here ughhh!!
as i thought! .the "reporters" are all out of town!.. i thought people from the colorado springs area was great reporters..?? NAH..why cant they hire a guy from right here??this place is something else..i cant believe that these tv stations would not hire people "locally"??i wonder what the other bloggers in this city think about that!.. i wouldnt watch "kktv" or the rest of these so=called tv stations..that my opinion from a local tv watcher..its a disgrace !and all of the local tv stations are run all out of town people ,i guess.
ill stick with cnn and fox news for my news ..for sure if they cant find this guy..

I am happy to see KKTV allowing the regular KXRM Newscast crew go over their.
Joe will once again anchor with Pytlinski, and Terry Gerbstadt will not be a 3rd wheel to Try and Brian at KKTV.
I am sure you will see new graphics and a set once this NEW FOX21 News @ Nine gets started.
When is the First News cast for FOX 21?
i went down to fox 21 studios and i dont see a news set or cars. the set must be at kktv.. same old thing nothing changes here.
its the same fox 21 with snazzy graphics .HOW BORING!!IM SURPRISED AT THIS TV MARKET>>they could puit in a better team than they have at fox 21..
i and others woundnt watch that crap..im surprised at least they could have singer and brown up there.theyre all buddies. that must be a shocker for those people..

It's truly fascinating to watch as one particular anonymous poster seems to have a stream of consciousness conversation with him/herself, posting replies to his/her own postings after just a few minutes. Shine on you crazy diamond!
The local TV "news" here in Colorado Springs is such a "joke" it isn't even funny. The KKTV "team" (except for the sports guy John Owens) just plain "sucks." They are inept and the production from the KKTV studios is often just downright embarrassing to "watch." KOAA-TV/Channels 5 & 30 is not bad - but Lisa Lyden can't "carry" the ball all the time....she needs some help (and Rob Quirk isn't the greatest "helper" out there.) It will be good to see some "real" journalists with some credibility and news experience come to this area. Someday. Hopefully.

also that reporter that the 3 or i should say 4 networks should check into .he was from c.p.n on adelphia /comcast..late 1980s . he was a cool tv reporter. not like lauri martin of kktv but joe and all of the other news directors here in the springs. should check into before he goes to another tv market..like lincoin,nebraska??
It is about time that Grace got a a gig agin. The work she has done over the years has been wonderful and overlooked by others. Good luck to you, Grace!!
