KRDO at 5 and 6 on Monday

Just a reminder that KRDO/Channel 13 will switch its 5:30 p.m. newscast to 5 p.m. and add a new 6 p.m. newscast beginning Monday.

KRDO AM&FM will also switch to news bright and early Monday morning -- 5 a.m., so if you've been a sports talk fan (1240 AM) or a smooth jazz listeners (105.5 FM), you'll need to be looking for a new station come Monday.

I'll have a note about that along with a bunch of radio changes in Saturday's TV/Radio notes column.

What the heck are they gonna cover at 6:00 PM that they did not cover at 5:00 PM? And why would I hang around and watch them again at 6:00 PM.

I'm not gonna miss Bill O'Reilly for that!!

Dear God, they already repeat the 5:30 PM news at 10:00 PM so now we get three half hour segments of the same thing each night? Blecch!!!

Hey idiot, wake up! The whole world doesn't get home from work by 5:00, or by 5:30. Some people in the real world, like myself, get home somewhere around 5:50, and would like to have a 6:00 local newscast.

Why would you hang around indeed? So don't! Just stop bitching about it. you sound like a whiny liberal: "I don't want a 6:00 newscast, so it's WRONG! WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! DON'T HAVE IT!!!"

Get a life pal.

So you're saying it's okay to re-hash the same stuff only because some people might not see it?
See, KRDO, that's why you're #3, oh wait, #4.

Hold the truck up there Pablo, KOAA also does the same thing at 5pm and 6pm. Oh, what you say? KKTV does it too, except that they have a 4:30 newscast. As well as a noon newscast. But wait! The plot thickens yet again! For KOAA also has a 11:00 AM newscast!!!

But wait, there's more! They all have morning newscasts as well!

You want STILL more? You got it! They all repeat the 10:00 news at some point during the late night schedule.

By my count, just at KKTV, that's:

2 morning (5am and 6am)
1 noon
2 afternoon
1 night
1 late night
Total = 7

KOAA:

2 morning
1 late morning
2 afternoon
1 night
1 late night
Total = 7

By this point I suspect that you're having a heart attack you're so mad at all those newscasts.

Heh. Like I said before, get a life pal.

Wow man, I guess your assertion that KRDO is doing poorly in the ratings because they want to repeat a newscast just got... trashed? LOL!

I have to admit News Press & Gazette is trying hard to boost KRDO's news department.

The radio lineup is very good and as expected KRDO picked up Dave Ramsey from KZNT. Salem overall loss is KRDO's gain.

Also those who enjoy Dr. Laura morallity rants will do so again when she returns to Colorado Springs radio.

I am disappointed with evenings since they are giving that over to Sporting News Radio which still remains on the station. I think that is to use a football term a throwaway.

While KRDO claims they want to be "objective" they should not be afraid to have political talk shows that are not afraid to have an opinion. I have a few names Neal Boortz, Jerry Doyle (I can see KZNT pick him), Rusty Humphries, Mike McConnell, Michael Reagan just to name a few.

Also another Consumer Talker Clark Howard would be another great choice for KRDO-AM-FM. I just would not take for granted that the KRDO Radio audience would simply turn away to watch Grey's Anatomy and Lost via KRDO-TV.

"yep ill miss..the jazz also.. must not be a lot of jazz listeners like us .i even sent an e-mail to bobby irwin.trying to explain to him ..we dont need more achy breaky country western stations on f.m dial."

The ratings say otherwise, and the Smooth Jazz fans that speak out are just part of a vocal minority.

With KAFA out of the Air Force Academy now on 97.7 you should be able to pick up 104.3 out of Denver which broadcasts a Smooth Jazz format, but believe me that format has been in Critical but Stable condition for some time. Recently in the Philadelphia radio market the Smooth Jazz format was dropped for a Rhythmic AC format ala Pueblo's Hot 95.5 (KPHT). The Smooth Jazz audience is getting older the younger demos are not feeling the vibe. Wonder why stations like KKLI and even KOSI out of Denver are playing songs that not as "soft/lite?"

Those who enjoy "Real Jazz" can still listen to KRCC and KCME on weeknights and Saturdays respectfuly.

Everybody else in CS ENJOYS Country Music, and this has been a Country Music market for a long time. KATC (Cat Country 95.1) will sure give KCCY (Y96.9) a run for the money.

I kind of miss Peak 95.1. KVUU (My 99.9) is doing YET ANOTHER all 80's weekend. I am sure they will benfit from Peak demise.

Its NOT KAFA, the Smooth Jazz station out of Denver is KJCD. The VO for that station by the way is Issac Hayes the Former Chief on South Park.

KRDO-TV getting a sat truck??? Not quite yet, but at least News Press & Gazette is trying to make NewsChannel 13 a station that has strong newscast just as the others. Something that Harry & Patti Hoth let slide. NPG has a lot of work cut out for them.

It would be nice for them to get a real time doppler program which KOAA and KKTV do have.

As for Sports, you still have KKML-AM which has the ever popular Jim Rome show and Live and Local Tony D.

In fact most major markets do 5PM Local, 5:30 National, 6PM Local News block.

Don't worry KKTV will still have a local newscast at 5:30 since they do well with the Merv Griffen games shows in the 6PM hour

Hey fat boy who cares about you and your burger flipping job?

Chances are pretty good that your knuckles drag the ground when you walk. So I would imaging that ANY 6:00 PM newscast would be a stretch for you to comprehend. Get back on to the "WE" channel where you belong.

you can see the new news channel 13 logo on your browser if you have "tabs" enabled. the new website is www.krdo.com and now says coming soon. it is a blue tv screen shaped background with a yellow 13 in the middle. refreshing to see the design change coming!

LMFAO! A typical flaming homo liberal fanboy. When you realize that your argument has zero merit, you resort to personal attack. Thanks for the laugh though!

One of the best jazz stations I've ever listend to is KUVO in Denver. I listen on the Internet quite a bit and from Briargate northward when heading to Denver.
