We survived, the Broncos did not

Well, the NFL put the Broncos-Chiefs game on the NFL Network, many in Colorado Springs couldn't see the game because of it, and yet the city still stands this morning. Jake Plummer's career may be a different matter.

I suffered for this one myself, since I was having turkey day dinner at the home of Gazette Outdoors writer/luddite Dave Philipps, who thinks a 20-inch tube TV without cable is just a nifty entertainment device. I'm pretty sure he has a Betamax around the house somewhere, too.

I'm not bragging but to everyone who didn't see the Bronco Chiefs game, dump Adelphia/Comcast and get yourself Directv or Dish. I could be wrong but when I compare the cost or cable vs. satillite, I believe satillite is cheaper. And in the 5 years I have had it, there have been only one price increase, I have see from friends Adelphia/Comcast have constanly increase the cost for various reasons in the five years I have had satillite. However one cavet, cable modem is better and faster than dsl. Nothing is perfect.

hmm ?? interesting indeed.on comcast they did have "nfl" network . but i do admitt.. it is pricey and its higher that direct and dish tv, but it dont have mykktv like comcast though. im hoping that falcon broadband will take the lead and their promise to cable colorado springs and statimoor hills region and about dsl with qwest. Im thinking of having cable modem , but that is pricey too..and it doesnt have a wireless modem like qwest dsl has.

For those of you with cable -- you didn't miss much! Not only were the Broncs awful, Bryant Gumble was even worse as the play-by-play man.

The Broncos are in panic mode, replacing Jake with a Rook. Granted, Cutler is the future, and I'm not Plummer fan... but to toss a rook in the ring when you're still in playoff contention is a knee jerk reaction. We'll see though... I'm not a Bronco fan, so frankly their utter collapse will give me something to laugh about.

As for cable/DirecTV... I actually have both, but only use DirecTV for the NFL Sunday Ticket. As much as I loath the cost of cable, cable modems are much, much, much faster than DSL and worth every penny that it costs over DSL. I'm a PC Editor for a gaming website and the two just aren't comparable when it comes to that sort of thing. As for wireless modems... just grab a router with wireless features. I built a new gaming rig not long ago that has a wireless router built into the motherboard and it works like a charm.

I think it's a smart move by the Broncos to have Jay Cutler start now. It's not a "knee jerk reaction"....the Broncos know they're not going to win the whole thing this year and that Jay is their future. Let him cut his teeth on a few games this year that mean something. In the years to come, it will prove the right thing to do.
