Oh, well

Honestly, I'm a little bummed. I had Sanjaya pegged for the final four -- just far enough to make everyone really start to sweat.

And with Phil and Chris sailing through, I'm unsure about what happens next.

But really, wouldn't you prefer to talk about the whole Simon thing at the top of the show? That was weird. It kind of reminded me of the mini-controversy over Daughtry doing the Live version of "I Walk the Line" last season. If you'll remember, nobody credited Live at the time, and then Seacrest had to do this whole non-apology explanation the next week.

The subject matter, of course, was far more serious, but the way "Idol" handled it was just as silly. Loved the multiple camera angles, so we could really, truly see how little attention Simon pays to the show. They studied that crap like the Zapruder film. Fun.

So anybody got a theory what Blake was doing in the bottom three?

And on "Lost"... well, kinda dull. I do like Desmond, but nothing much happened here.

One presumes that Blake was in the bottom three because America heard the same tentative, off-key performance I did.

Blake, in my opinion, is the only entertaining one of the bunch. That said, he's been a bit dull the last few weeks which may explain his bottom-3 position. Still, his voice is decent but more importantly, he's confident and knows how to PERFORM. I'm bored to tears by the other contestants no matter how good their voices are. Not to mention I'm downright disturbed by some of the other's appearances!

Must suck being jaded. ;)

Dude, nothing happened?! Are you fraking kidding me? Were you watching the same episode (Catch-22) that the rest of us were?!

Here's what didn't happen:

1) We got to see a lot more of Des' background.

2) We got to see why he calls everyone "brother."

3) We got to see that the white haired woman Des was talking to a few episodes back about time travel is someone related to his monk friend in the monastery (did you see the pic on his desk?)

4) We got to see that Penny is STILL looking for him. That pilot has got to be from the crew Penny has put together to find him. You do remember the cliff hanger from last season where her cronies are up in Antarctica at a radar station and see a blip, right? This gal-pilot has his picture in a book, and calls his name as she passes out...

But ya... nothing happened. ;)

Eli, I'm sticking to my guns here.

I like Des and didn't mind spending an hour with him, but we didn't learn anything important ("brother" doesn't count), the time-shifting woman was a nice touch, but didn't actually advance the plot (everyone on "Lost" is connected - if they did a flashback without dropping something like that in, that would be surprising), and we knew Penny was still looking for him. That was the point of that cliffhanger with the Portugese, whenever that was (wish I could spell Portugese).

Des saving Charlie, the camping party, the beach scenes -- fun, but we've seen it before.

FWIW, all the Lost fans here agree with me, as do a lot of folks on the Web.

"Lost" got its game on the last two weeks and then treaded water this week. Given the amount of action the producers have promised for the remaining 5 (4?) episodes, hopefully the rest of the season will be exciting.
