Year in review

So I need to do a short local TV and radio roundup for our year-in-review piece. Give me a few ideas.

I think you've obviously got the KRDO sale and the Hoths bowing out after 50 years in broadcasting. And you've got Hal Kennedy's passing. Rich Hawk retiring from KILO was pretty big on the radio side.

Then we have Comcast finally taking over Adelphia.

Must have been a few other things going on. What have I forgotten?

UPDATES: KXRM/Channel 21 starting its own newscast is a good one. And the new anchor team at KKTV/Channel 11 -- January seems like a decade ago already.

Jan 12 2006
KKTV/Channel 11 announced Wednesday that it will replace the anchor chairs vacated by Eric Singer and Melissa Brown with some big- city talent.

The station named Shannon Brinias and Don Ward as its new evening anchor team. Ward, a former KRDO/Channel 13 weekend anchor and reporter who graduated from Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, now works as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KWGN/Channel 2 in Denver.

2006 - KKTV loses power again and still no power generator in its inventory like the big stations. Plus a fire started in the studio because of the power outage. Probably the way they wired their work around.

2006 - MyKKTV is added to the KKTV lineup. Funny morphing digital signals add to the entertainment value of the newscast. Morphing is a must see! News anchors are added to augment the force.

An interesting note:

NPG and Co. won't fire their chief over the F-Bomb... but they fired the chief in Grand Junction over a verbal disagreement with a co-worker that only about 4 or 5 people heard. Go figure...

KKCS, with 25 years of country heritage in the Springs, goes down the toilet, thanks to "Superior" business practices that included an even more "Superior" moving of the tower that ultimately resulted in the termination of lots of great folks. Thanks, but I'll be sure not to mention any names.

What? Fox 21's "HD" news is a joke. They're not shooting or broad asting their news in HD, just a progressive format that is on the HD capable cameras they bought. Actually, I think using the progressive mode for news looks like crap.
