American Idle

I was expecting big things from a Diana Ross night - at least from Melinda and LaKisha. Intead: A boring, boring night. I know the judges always bash contestants that mess with the classics, but that wasn't the problem with Chris Sligh and Blake Lewis. It's that their arrangements sucked. Mel and LaK both sang well, but not well enough to keep me from seeing what else was on (nothing, if you're wondering. Nobody even tries to counter-program Idol anymore).

This is a really tough season for viewers. There's only two singers worth listening to and we've got 12 weeks still to go. I think it's on the producers to tweak the format to make what isn't really a contest into something that at least resembles interesting television.
And if Brandon (right) doesn't go home tonight, there is something rotten in Denmark.

Kiki (LaKisha to you) rocks. She exhibited amazing control and simmering power last night, and really picked a song that showcased her talent - as opposed to Jordin Sparks who picked a total dud song.
I can't believe you were bored

When she said she was going to do Billie Holiday, I was excited. But the result? Eh. It was well done, but just filler. There wasn't a single memorable performance last night.

I thought Jordin was pretty good, but nowhere near as good as the judges said. I always wonder if the sound on the TV is totally different than it is in the studio.

I have to think the sound we hear at home is very different from the live "experience"...

We were SO happy we didn't watch it live (DVR'd) - so we could listen to the first snippet, then get bored and jump to the next singer.

What really got us:
American Idol ice cream flavors....

I can think of the flavor names now:
American Idol - Public Humiliation flavor

American Idol - Humble Pie flavor
...
