CK out at Cat Country

Turns out, you can spell "cat" without a C. Or, I guess, a K.

Longtime local DJ Chris "CK" Knight was given the heave-ho this morning from Citadel Broadcasting's KATC (95.1 FM), after a year with the country station. CK came over from a long and very successful stint at KKMG (98.9 FM), Citadel's Top 40 station, but couldn't push Cat Country past its arch-rival KCCY (96.9 FM).

"I thought the morning show, I thought we were making progress," CK said. "It was a different approach than what I was used to on Magic, but I was trying to make an adjustment. We weren’t completely in the toilet."

Radio's one of those fields where you're always between firings, but CK hadn't gotten canned since 1992 in St. Louis, not that he didn't come close a few times on Magic. His former Cat Country co-host Alisha and midday guy Cutter will helm the show for now.

Maybe he can move over to be the talk show host at KVOR?

Now that's too bad. I really thought they were starting to work well together.

CK is the best in town. I hope KVOR thinks about picking up his show again. If not maybe KRDO will be interested.

Sam and Craig are gone daddy gone. I think it was Indiana? Anyway, Mark's got a pretty good job himself these days. I'd be interested to know if he'd ever consider getting up at 4 a.m. again.

That is too bad that CK won't be with the Cat Country morning show. I will miss his personality and voice on my morning drive into work. If CK couldn't overtake 96.9, I don't think your current morning show will. Sirus here I come!!

good move getting rid of c.k. the morning show was awful. they really needed to make a change. i'm surprised the woman is still there. i'm sure there's more to this story than just ratings.

and goldberg?? NO!!!

C.K.'s morning show was terrible. And the minute he was fired he called clear channel for a job. As awful as Willy is he's no worse than C.k. Both those Country Music stations lack talent. Clear channel needs to do what cat did and get rid of willy. it's a start. and they both need to get rid of their other disc jockeys too. when they start over then we'll be able to see which one has the best station but right now they're tied for having no talent on their stations.

i agree with the ross part. he's good. but mo? NO! i get the impression she thinks the world is waiting to hear what she's going to ramble about. she tries to be funny but she'd be nowhere without him. i don't listen anymore because of her. met her once. found out how much of a phoney she really is. ross - YES. mo-NOOOOOO

try sirius radio for some funny radio talent

Jack Regan, weekends on 92.9...it's time to get him back on radio full time, he's entertaining without showing off, someone needs to make the move now.

I thought CK was great and I was shocked when he left Magic. I followed him over to Cat country because the only reason I listened on magic was because of him but when there was music playing I switched over to country. I will miss him and I would hope that 96.9 picks him up for their morning show because I would DEFINITELY switch!

I have been wondering what happened to CK. I just found this blog. CK was the reason I listened to 95.1. I liked Alicia at first, now I find her loud and obnoxious, she also talks way too much about alcohol. That is a real turn off for me!

Thank you for this blog that lets me know what happened to CK and Alisha.

I enjoyed both of them, much more so than Willie & Val.

I found CK to be quite funny--in a witty/smart way. Maybe he was just "too smart" for some folks....hmmm...
